MERRY CHRISTMAS
Gift cards are available for Sunrise Marina, Grills Seafood Deck and Tiki Bar and the Ocean Obsession. Great stocking stuffers. Shopping Over----Life is Good!!!
We have a great selection of T-Shirts, hats, fleece jackets and the Grills Columbia Fishing Shirt for our sportfishing fans. We also have the popular polarized Costa Del Mar sunglasses, the perfect gift for any fisherman. We are happy to special order any item that is not on our shelves including the Costa Del Mar’s.
FISHING FORECAST
As always, weather in the winter months is the big question. However, if Mother Nature is kind, December starts a bottom fishing bonanza that will last until spring.
Look for good numbers of grouper and cobia on the 70 - 100 ft. wrecks and reefs.
If Mother Nature is exceptionally cooperative and the inshore waters get clean, look for large numbers of slammer cobia (up to 80 lbs.) to invade the buoy line and beaches. Tripletail and
sheephead can also be found on the buoys. King mackerel on the Pelican flats can be superb in December for the diehard troller. Harbor fishing can be excellent for bluefish, but Snook fishing starts to taper off as the water cools. Feel free to give us a call for daily updates on fishing and weather reports.
HAPPY ENDINGS
We hope the holiday season brings good things to all. Make it a safe one. Thanks for your support this year!

MARINA
In need of some new t-shirts with your favorite marina (you know who I’m talkin’ about) on them?????? Check out the Sunrise Marina T-Shirts in the latest
eye-popping colors. We also, are carrying your favorite Bimini Bay shorts in nylon and cotton.
We have recently added a new line of Hobie sunglasses to compliment our Costa Del Mar line. We carry a variety of styles for the inshore and offshore fisherman.
Bait…………ahhh…….we have had some fun these last few months…..no pin fish to be found, ballyhoo that looks good and trolls like mud…….spanish sardines that can’t get a passport to leave Venezula, …. what is a fisherman to do…….I won’t say we have solved all of the problems, however, we have located some great sources for ballyhoo, just in time for the season.
FISHING FORECAST
We had a great Cobia Season this year, thanks to a few fronts keeping them from moving north. There are still a few around. But it’s time to think about the next big catch. Dolphin, Dolphin, Dolphin. If you’re an offshore troller you can’t help but lose sleep over the potential May has for some unbelievable Dolphin fishing. These colorful, aggressive game fish are some of the most sought after fish on the East coast. Boats trolling ballyhoo along color changes and weed lines are most likely to score with these spectacular fish. Wahoo and Sails are also a strong bet. Inshore, snook fishing will be superb as the water temperatures continue to warm. Bluefish, flounder and tripletail will still be a good bet.
HAPPY ENDINGS
If you want a break from catching your own fish, let Grills do the work for you!! Fresh fish daily, just like you like it!
See you on the docks,
Robin, and the rest of the Sunrise Crew

F.Y.I.
It’s finally here! After 4 years of talking about it, the new Sunrise Marina storage building received its certificate of occupancy this past week. Able to house boats to 45ft in length and 24,000 lbs in weight, the building is the largest of its kind in the area. We are still in the process of finishing the road and parking to the east of the buildings but expect the entire project, including landscaping, to be wrapped up by months end.
We would like to thank everyone who has put up with the dusty yard and major construction zone over the past years. We plan to make it worth the wait!
FISHING FORECAST
Cobia have been slow in showing themselves on the beach but March is the premier month to find these incredible fish free swimming or circling large bait pods between Canaveral and Patrick AFB.
Bottom fishing has been outstanding recently and should continue through March. The 27 fathom reefs and deeper can see large congregations of grey grouper and red snapper.
King mackeral will start showing on pelican flats and an early run of Dolphin can be a possibility for the offshore troller.
Pompano fishing can be a good bet in the harbor when the wind is blowing too hard to get offshore. Small jigs tipped
with shrimp produce the best results. The middle and back basin shorelines are good spots when not restricted.
GRILLS
The season is upon us! We are gearing up for the beautiful weather, great food, good music and lots of fun!
HAPPY ENDINGS
Thank you again for all the patience and patronage. We are looking forward to running a marina instead of building one!
Good fishing!

UPDATES
It’s almost over……… …..halleluiah! We are expecting to have the new storage buildings up and running by the end of February. This of course will be dependent upon getting our certificate of occupancy from the powers that be. Unless they throw us a curve ball, we will be ready to rock and roll soon!.
In the next couple of weeks, the contractor will be starting the work on the east side of the building, so we can revamp the parking area and repave. This is going to take approximately 30 days to complete. Again I am asking you to be patient. I promise this is coming to an end and the end result will be impressive, for your clients and ours!
MARINA STORE
December ended with a bang. We were lucky once again to get great weather as well as see some awesome fish hanging on the brag board.
Now is the time to get ready for this season’s great fishing. Sunrise Marina is ready to help you stock up with all the latest tackle you need to make this season a great one. We are happy to special order any tackle that is not currently stock. We also appreciate recommendation on tackle that you use on a regular basis and would like to see us stock.
We have been searching for good quality ballyhoo and are hopeful that we will be able to provide you with some of the best ballyhoo out there.
Coming Soon: Live eels to entice the often finicky free swimmers soon to invade our coastal waters.
With the restaurant in full gear, and spring just around the corner, parking is going to be a real problem this season. If you are going fishing for the day, we do ask that you park on either side of the building. Captains, please make sure your charter moves their vehicles from both the front of the marina and in front of the restaurant and have them park on the sides of the building. Once again, the front of the marina is designated as 15 minute parking only!! Thank you for your cooperation.
FISHING FORECAST
Fabulous February!! Bottom fishing can be awesome! Large numbers of grouper, snapper and cobia can be expected either on the inshore waters or perhaps even early spawn of grouper on 27 fathoms. Surprisingly enough, February can be one of our best months for wahoo. When the conditions get right (calm seas and warm days) wahoo will congregate in large numbers on 27 fathoms. Ballyhoo behind sea-witches or high speed lures will produce the best results. In the Port, fishing can be excellent for flounder, bluefish, weakfish and possibly even a pompano. As always, feel free to call for a weather update or fishing forecast.
GRILLS
As always, Grills offers the freshest fish in town and great steaks too! (One of my favorites) Don’t forget to save room for dessert; you will be happy you did!
For those evenings that you would like to sit back, relax and enjoy the atmosphere, Grills will cook your catch. So after a tiring day of fishing, let Grills help to make the end of your day as relaxing and fun as the fishing.
HAPPY ENDINGS
Hope everyone has had a good start to the new year. Hopefully this spring brings the best of what we all love: great weather & great fishing.
We are looking forward to a great year and are as always grateful for your support.

F.Y.I
Ahh 2005…Another great year, here at Sunrise Marina, Grills and Obsession Charters! We have all made some new customers, new friends and renewed old friendships. What more can you ask for? A new boat storage building?! In 2006 we will see a new boat storage facility. I know you find this hard to believe, but it will happen!
Again we would like to thank all of our customers for your patience with us during all of the modifications and construction this year including (but not limited to) your patience with our parking arrangements. We are optimistic about getting the parking cleaned up by the start of fishing season in 2006.
SPEAKING OF PARKING…………
If you are fishing for the day, please park on the east or west side of the building, NOT in front of the Tiki Bar and Grills restaurant, the marina store, the wash down racks, or the center dock!! Charter boats please inform your charter of this also. Thank you for your cooperation.
NEW YEARS AT GRILLS
Avoid the crowded, smoke filled, stuffy, typical New Years Night. Enjoy why we live in Florida. (Waterside, casual and outdoors)!
We will have live entertainment, champagne, and a lot of those goofy hats and noise makers. Best of all--- NO COVER CHARGE!
FISHING FORECAST
As we finish off a good week of fishing for 2005, we are wishing you a better 2006.
JANUARY IS HERE!! Bottom fishing will be at its peak when conditions allow. Look for large numbers of grouper, snapper and cobia to invade the wrecks and reefs in the 70 - 140 ft. depths. King mackerel will also continue to be concentrated on Pelican Flats when water conditions are favorable. Blackfin Tuna are very good if you can find the rock shrimp boats working 160 - 180 ft. depths. Harbor fishing should be excellent for bluefish, weakfish (sea trout) and Pompano as the water temperature drops. The buoy line can still hold cobia and tripletail if the water temperature doesn't drop too low. Please let us know of any exceptional catches so that we can mention it in the next newsletter. As always, feel free to call for any fishing updates or weather reports!
HAPPY ENDINGS
A special thanks again to all of our customers. We are very grateful for your support, and we will continue trying to earn it!
Robin and the entire crew!
***Where ever your plans take you on New Years Eve, please remember to be safe!

F.Y.I
Goodbye and Good riddance to Wilma. Did everyone have as much fun as we did? That one day felt like a whole week. We were very lucky. No serious damage to our fleet. Thank you to all who came down on Monday to check on boats and retie lines. It was wet and windy. A BIG THANK to Ben Dibiase who kept us company all day and acted as sentry going out on the docks every hour to tighten and add lines.
NEW MARINA
Well, ITS BIG! If you haven’t been in the Port lately, you might not have seen it. But if you come here often, you can’t miss it. Five Stories High with enough racks to hold 150 boats.
We will be racking boats early in 2006. If you know of someone who is interested in bringing their boat here, please tell them to call in and get their name on the list. My waiting list is getting very long.
MARINA STORE
Christmas is approaching soon, so don’t forget that someone special when making your purchases! Tackle, Fleece Jackets, Sweatshirts, T-shirts, Gift Certificates and a whole lot more.
With daylight savings time upon us, its time to change to our Winter Store Hours:
7 Days a Week: 6 am to 8 pm.
Due to limited daylight hours, our forklift hours will be from 6 am - 6 pm. Please be sure to be at the dock no later than 6 pm as it makes it very difficult to put your boat away safely. If for some reason you are running late, please be sure to call the marina on VHF ch.16 so we know that you are okay.
I would like to remind everyone that this is the transient season and our docks will be reserved most nights. AGAIN, if you are a rack storage customer and you return after the scheduled forklift shutdown time, you will be charged for overnight dockage.
FISHING FORECAST
November can be the start of the bottom fishing bonanza! Grouper, Snapper and, near the end of the month, Cobia will start to invade the wrecks and reefs off of our coast. November also kicks off our winter run of Kingfish for those who prefer to troll. Wahoo and Sailfish can be found in good concentrations as well. Around the shrimp boats, the Blackfin Tuna can be tricked by either chumming or trolling. Inshore, Snook will be red hot until the water cools below 72 degrees. Flounder and Bluefish will remain strong regardless.
GRILLS Seafood Deck and Tiki Bar
Breakfast, lunch and dinner with a view! What more needs to be said. Thank you to all who continue to be so supportive. Let us know what else we can do to make improvements.
HAPPY ENDINGS
Happy Thanksgiving

F.Y.I.
Please remember that hurricane season is not over until November 30th. Make sure we have all your current phone numbers on file including your work number and be ready to remove all loose items from your vessel, including canvas. If we need to get ready for a hurricane, all help is appreciated in securing all the vessels.
I recommend that you have plenty of line ready as well as pick up tie downs, just in case.
New Marina
On September 5th, we will be working on Phase II, the south section, of the forklift launch pad that runs along the west side to the seawall. This will limit our boat launching capabilities. Boats stored on the west side of the marina will not be able to go out during this time. The concrete should be cured and ready by September 16th. If you have special plans during this time, please let us know and we will make arrangements to accommodate you if possible. We must know before September 5th.
FISHING FORECAST
Blackfin Tuna will become one of the main focuses in September with anglers scoring catches behind shrimp boats in 120 to 180 feet of water. Chumming with Spanish sardines, will reward those who are able to trick these crafty fish. Always keep an open eye for species such as Cobia, Dolphin or Wahoo, which often come up for a meal.
If the pogies stay around through the fall, those live baiting over reefs and wrecks can continue to look forward to catching Kings and Cobia with an occasional Dolphin, Sailfish or Wahoo mixed in.
With any luck, bottom fishing will pick up with the disappearance of cold, dirty water that often blankets the bottom during summer months.
September 1st is the long anticipated date for Snook anglers. Expect excellent catches around lighted structures at night in the port and in the surf at daybreak.
GRILLS Seafood Deck & Tiki Bar
It’s been another crazy season at Grills. For those of you who can’t handle the wait, it is a much slower time of year for the next couple of months. So check it out …breakfast, lunch or dinner. We’d like to thank everyone for the incredible support and word of mouth advertising!
HAPPY ENDINGS
Well, that was a fast summer! Hope everyone had a chance to make the most of it. Fall can provide some fantastic fishing so don’t put the gear away yet. Thanks for your business..

Facelift
Sunrise Bait and Tackle Center is getting a facelift. A little shade for the late afternoon story telling sessions and a new entrance on the east side for easier access from the boat ramp.
The rack storage as you can see is coming along.... slowly but surely.
FYI
Our tropical storm season has been extremely quiet but please remember, that can change very quickly. Please have an evacuation plan ready as the Port Authority will require all vessels to leave the Port at 36 hours from a possible strike.
FISHING FORECAST
SMOKERS ARE HERE!! August is prime-time for these large, hungry, aerobatic kings, termed, SMOKERS (term derived from cooking process, not necessarily what they do to a reel!!) The key to success is netting live menhaden (pogies), a feat sometimes much more difficult than catching the kings.
Slow trolling with No. 4 4x treble hook rigs is the preferred method. The fish will be caught anywhere from inside the Port, along the buoy line, off the beaches, and on the inshore reefs. Elsewhere, trolling offshore can be very sporadic with a mixture of sail, dolphin, and wahoo still possible. Bottom fishing will range from good to terrible depending on the bottom water temperature which can plummet to the 40's for a brief time. Inshore, tripletail, tarpon, snook and flounder will continue to be good.
GRILLS Seafood Deck and Tiki Bar
As usual Grills is hopping with entertainment and fun. After you get the fish and boat cleaned, stop by, say hello, have a drink, relax and enjoy.
HAPPY ENDINGS
See you on the docks!
Robin, and the rest of the Crew!

5 am – 7 pm Sat & Sun.
This means the boats must be at the dock no later than the time specified. If you are having boat trouble or are running late for some other reason, please be courteous to call.
ANOTHER REMINDER!
As you may have noticed, it’s been very busy here lately! If you are fishing for the day, please park on the east or west side of the building, NOT in front of the Tiki Bar and Grills restaurant, the marina store, the wash down racks, or the center dock!! Charter boats please inform your charter of this also. Thank you for your cooperation.
Tournaments
Tournament Season has been a disappointment for all of us this year. Mother Nature was getting her kicks watching all of us get cranked up the night before just to let us down on tournament day. Hopefully she had all the laughs she needs and has moved on to harass other poor souls.
We hope to finish off this season with two of your favorites, the Coconut’s Shootout and Rusty’s Summer Slam. Good Luck!
FISHING FORECAST
JULY IS KING! King mackerel, for those using live menhaden (pogies), can be spectacular. These 15 - 40 lb. toothed rockets can be found everywhere including inside Port Canaveral, the beaches, 8A reef and Pelican flats. Offshore trolling action for dolphin and wahoo can be hot, or not, on any given day. Bottom fishing can be great in the 240 ft. area if the current and the bottom water temperature cooperate. Inshore action will include flounder, tripletail, and tarpon near the beaches.
GRILLS Seafood Deck and Tiki Bar
Discovery is getting ready to launch. Scheduled launch date is July 13th. Join us at Grills to celebrate this return to flight and watch a spectacular event. IT ALL HAPPENS AT GRILLS and SUNRISE MARINA!
Thanks again

There are tournaments scheduled every weekend in May. Your cooperation is greatly needed during all of our busy weekends. Please remember to park at the sides of the marina if you are fishing for the day and ask your customers to do the same.
Timing, Timing, Timing…….and boy is our timing lousy. Right in the middle of tournament season and the new construction will begin.
I want to thank everyone for their support during these hectic times. I know that the end result will benefit all of us.
MARINA
This month we will be hosting the Cal Dixon Fishing Tournament again. Many of you have already committed time, money, boats and more. We appreciate everyone’s help in making this charity event for ARC a success. Registrations will be in the Port May 1st. FYI CONSTRUCTION
By the time you receive this letter, we will be sitting in our new offices; looking out the windows and watching the boats go by. The productive days are over; this is when the day dreaming begins! I expect you all to give us something exciting to see on the fish hang board this month.
March 28th is the scheduled day for the demolition to begin on the old Sunrise Marina building. For some of you, this will be like loosing a friend. This building has been here as long as or longer than most of you have been fishing.
I am again asking you to be patient while the contractors are working to remove the building. We will be moving boats around and blocking off parking to accommodate the heavy equipment. Please be considerate and careful when coming in the back yard by foot or by vehicle, there will be a lot going on. The demolition of the building will take approximately three weeks. (I am not holding my breath)
Sometime during this process we will have to close the marina down for about 3 days. Please check with the marina store around the 5th of April to find out when this will occur. We will be able to continue fueling operations during this period. I am hopeful that we will also be able to provide you with bait and tackle in the early mornings before the demo crew starts and late afternoons when the crew stop for the day.
MARINA TOYS
During our demolition I am moving the web cam to the back side of Grills. As soon as the building is down we will move the cam back to the tackle store so you can enjoy the daily fish hang again. I’m not sure what the view will be like when I move the cam to Grills but be patient, this is only temporary.
The new toy on the block is a state of the art CERTIFIED fish scale. We are mounting this scale by the fish hang board. This should be available by April 1st.
FISHING FORECAST
It seems like it has been months since anyone has gotten a full week of fishing in. I hope April provides us with great fishing and plentiful charters. Although sometimes plagued by strong winds, April should begin our calm weather and great trolling months. Cobia fishing will be excellent on the beaches, either on bait pods or just free swimming. Trolling for dolphin, wahoo and sails will start to take off, while bottom fishing may slow some, but can still be excellent. Snook, bluefish, flounder and pompano can be excellent in the port and nearby beaches.
HAPPY ENDINGS
What more can we say? Spring is approaching! Grills and Sunrise can provide you with beautiful weather, good friends and plenty of fishing stories to go around. Don’t forget, we have live entertainment at the Tiki Bar every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday! See you on the docks!
Robin and the rest of the Sunrise Crew!

F.Y.I.
Nothing new on the project front. We are still hammering away at all the details. I’ll keep you posted when I have something new to say.
Don’t wait to long to sign up for rack storage for this fishing season, we are quickly running out of racks and space.
MARINA STORE
“The Eels”!
We have our order in and are waiting on delivery. The eels are coming!
Charlie West is doing a fine job of keeping us supplied with pins. Get here early, they go fast.
Look for Sunrise to bring you the freshest and finest in live and frozen bait this season.
If you are looking for something we don’t carry. Please let us know, we will be glad to special order any baits you may need.
FISHING FORECAST
March, in like a lion, out like a lamb? Who knows! This can be the finest bait pod month of the year. Phenomenal catches of cobia, kings, amberjack and giant Jack Crevalle are possible within a 1/4 mile off the beach.
If the weather does cooperate, look for these bait pods (giant schools of menhaden) to form from Patrick to the tip of the Cape up to 8 miles off the beach. The location of these game fish attractors will be revealed by diving pelicans. Casting jigs or live baits into these giant dark spots (caused by millions of bait fish) will produce spectacular results from predators of all types. Offshore, bottom fishing can still be excellent as well as the possibility of an early run of dolphin and wahoo. In the harbor, weakfish, pompano, bluefish and flounder can all be good bets.
GRILLS
The season is upon us! We are gearing up for the beautiful weather, great food, good music and lots of fun!
HAPPY ENDINGS
Spring is here! It’s time to fish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UPDATES
Modernization: In February we are installing a new Cash Register (POS) System in the tackle store. This will be beneficial not only to us but also to our customers. Purchases will be posted to your accounts nightly. Your invoice will have a detailed list of all your purchases and the correct dates of purchase. You will be able to make payments in the marina and they will post to your account immediately. I am no fool…….I know that with change there are always problems. Please be patient with our crew as they learn the new system and we smooth out the procedures.
Construction: Last year I was writing docks, docks, docks….this year its building, building, building…..
As most of you know we have begun construction. The first phase that is underway is the erection of a two story building that will house new offices, storage and a prep room for Grills. We hope to be completed in the next four weeks and moved in.
The next step will be to remove the existing Sunrise Marina metal building. After this we will begin the two 5 story boat rack storage buildings. At this point I do not have a definite schedule on when the boat racks will be erected, however, the steel structure has been ordered and I am confident that we will begin in 2005.
MARINA STORE
Ok, so we didn’t have the great weather after Christmas that we had last year. What’s a fisherman to do? Be patient…… the great fishing you all love is just around the corner.
With the new bait freezer, your bait will be the freshest anywhere.
We will soon be receiving our shipment of live eels to entice the often finicky free swimmers soon to invade our coastal waters.
GRILLS
Grills is sporting a new menu with new additions. For the carb conscious we now offer low carb wraps with your choice of Chicken, Steak or Fish. Awesome!

F.Y.I.
By the time you receive this newsletter the modification for the forklift launch pad will be underway. Provided we don’t have any unexpected problems, forklift launching will reopen on December 13th.
I have recently received information from the port that the lock closure may be extended by 14 days. If this happens, the locks will not be scheduled to reopen until December 24th. Please check with the marina store for details. As soon as I get confirmation I will pass it along.
A reminder for our forklift storage customers….. Cleaning your vessel at the dock is at the discretion of the forklift driver. Due to congestion, you may be asked to clean your boat in the back yard and not at the dock.
FYI….Wet slip customers….Please do not allow other vessels to stay in your slip when you are away. We use these slips when available for overnight storage customers. Any one other than yourself who stays in your slip will be charged for overnight dockage.
MARINA/GRILLS/OBSESSION
Sunrise has received a new shipment of
T-shirts including “Calcutta”. Come in and check them out.
Gift cards are available for Grills Seafood Deck and Tiki Bar and the Ocean Obsession. These can be used like a prepaid phone card as often as you like until the balance is used up. Sunrise Marina also has gift certificates for all of your fisherman’s needs. Great stocking stuffers. Shopping Over----Life is Good!!!
Used oil and filters need to be sorted and placed in the proper drums. Please follow directions on the signs. It’s becoming more difficult and expensive, to handle these materials. Rags, plastics and other trash mixed in with oil filters will not be accepted. Oil only may be dumped in the oil tank. If water or other contaminants are mixed in, they will not accept it. Please help us keep this area clean.
Tripletail and sheephead can also be found on the buoys.
Robin, and the rest of the Sunrise Crew!
