Amberjack
Amberjack are
common in the waters off East Florida, Gulf of Mexico and
the Caribbean. Amberjack or “A.J.’s” are
commonly caught on reefs, and probably more so, on wrecks.
Live pinfish or blue runners are hard for these gamesters
to refuse; however, if live bait is not available, deep jigging
is also a very effective method.
These backbreaking
fighters will bring even the strongest of men to their
knees. A.J.’s are commonly 15 to 30
lbs with 60 to 80 lb bruisers not uncommon.
