Cobia

Cobia can be found off the East Coast of the United States from Virginia to Florida and into the Gulf of Mexico. These fish will take a variety of live and dead baits as well as jigs and surface plugs.

Cobias are caught throughout the year along reefs and wrecks. A northbound migration is seen usually at the end of February and beginning of March. Schools of up to 50 fish can be targeted anywhere from just a few hundred yards off the beach and exceeding out to 20 miles. During this migration, sight-fishing on warm, sunny days is the best method to catch one of these hard fighting fish.
